Trenchless water line replacement technology is a new way to install water lines without creating excessive destruction of landscape and yards. The common way for installation includes a lot of excavating to create a ditch from the city’s water main to the foundation of the home leaving homeowners with a large bill to restore the damage to their properties. Our specialized machine with new advanced technology only requires us to excavate a 4’x4’ hole by the city water main for direct access for underground drilling. This leaves all landscaping intact. After inspection, the small 4’x4’ hole is backfilled, and brand new sod installed. The final result leaves the property looking as if no work has occurred, and homeowners will be left with a clean yard and peace of mind.
As of last year many municipalities throughout the Chicagoland area are receiving funding from the state of Illinois EPA to aid in replacement of lead water lines for safer drinking water for the future. This funding will be allocated to help out homeowners looking to get lead water line replacement. Some cities cover the complete amount of the work, some cover 40%-70% of the work and some cities have not yet received aid from EPA. It is best to contact your cities’ public works or building department to get informed on what program they have adopted, and the program’s rules and other variables of the project they might not cover.
